Intro
The entry-level and mid-range compound bow market is currently being invaded by the hottest “ready-to-shoot” all-inclusive offers, promising a starter package to shoot your bow straight-out-of-the-box. But are these companies fulfilling their promises, or just trying to rack up some cash with shoddy products before disappearing? Customer complaints due to poor quality of accessories on these packages or, worst, poorly assembled parts are not unheard of. Today, we review in detail the Atropos-125, an affordable, reliable and high-quality compound bow package that seems to have an edge over the competition thanks to the brand reputation and user satisfaction.
Full Review
The Atropos-125 package comes with a solid and powerful compound bow, 4 string shock silencers, a peep sight, a compass, a D-loop, 2 dampers and a 4-arrow quiver, all at a more than reasonable price tag for the value offered. Some of the accessories are not top-notch, and the kit will need upgrading at some point, but the general feeling is that Atropos has put some effort in offering decent quality materials. The bow is available for right-handed archer only, and in two different finish colors (black, and the popular camo). We have examined the features of this hot-seller bow in more detail.
Materials and design
This is a 3.9lbs bow featuring a solid super aluminum riser and CNC-machined cams. All the parts on the Atropos-125 bow look and feel of high quality and the bow grip is solid and comfortable. The finish looks professional and we love the catchy look on the purple and camo versions. The materials look sturdy and durable, which is important for a practice bow that needs to be used a lot.
Flexibility
The Atropos-125 is a flexible and beginner-friendly compound bow package. It has a draw length range of 23.5″-30.5″, and draw weight from 70lbs all the way down to 30lbs, to account for the needs of the young and smaller framed. The bow can be setup to your ideal draw length and weight at home using the included hex wrench key and the user’s manual included in the package. However you might need to visit your local pro shop to finish off fine tuning and sight-in.
Performance
At 320FPS IBO rating, the Atropos-125 is no less serious than higher priced competitors, and the 75% let-off allows for smooth and solid draw cycle. It’s also forgiving with its generous 7.4″ brace height and features a shock-free, quiet performance. All in all, this bow offers a good balance between shootability and performance, and it’s great for target shooting practice. It would be an excellent choice for a young archer to grow into, or for an intermediate shooter looking for a practice bow to step up their archery technique.
Hunting features
With a speed of up to 320FPS, the Atropos-125 has what it takes to take down pretty much size game if you know what you’re doing. Its lightweight of 3.9lbs makes it easy to carry around in the fields, and the included string shock-silencers help taming the noise to keep you in stealth mode all along.
